Ginny's Gite is an old farmhouse in the southern Charente, updated with all the modern conveniences you’d look for in a holiday home, including en-suite facilities for each of its three double bedrooms, a good-sized lounge and a fully fitted dining kitchen, satellite TV and Wi-Fi

It is surrounded by undulating countryside, where maize and sunflowers are the main crops.

The 12m by 6m swimming pool is there for your exclusive use. Its shallow end stays shallow for five metres, making it an ideal pool to start learning to swim in. The property is not overlooked and the views of the surrounding countryside are superb. The lawns at either end of the pool provide ample room for a kick around, a game of badminton or a swing on the swings.

St Severin and Aubeterre, listed as one of the prettiest villages in France, are about a five minute drive away. The towns of Riberac and Chalais both have excellent markets and are about a twenty minute drive.

Wine lovers will be spoilt for choice with Bergerac, Bordeaux, Cognac, and St Emilion all around an hours drive. Golf is on hand two km away at Manoir de Longeveau with its nine hole course and welcoming bar and restaurant. Walking, cycling, canoeing and swimming at lakeside and river beaches may be your choice of activity. For those who prefer the gentler pursuits of wining and dining, there are numerous excellent restaurants in the vicinity.

Ginny’s Gite offers an escape to the country for those wanting to leave the traffic behind or an ideal centre for those wanting to explore the Charente or the adjoining region – the Dordogne, which is just five miles away.

The owners - Ginny and David Steel, who moved from Cambridgeshire to the Charente in 2011, live in the adjoining barn and are on hand should you need their advice or assistance.

Please take a couple of minutes to view our video, which shows the gite and the views of the surrounding countryside
